The hotels used on our tours will meet the standard of a good, three-star European hotel. Rooms will have private bathrooms, telephones and TV. The vast majority will also have tea- and coffee-making facilities, and there will always be a bar or restaurant on site or nearby. You will also enjoy seven nights on board a Holland America Line cruise ship.
Elk + Avenue Hotel, Banff (nights 1-3)
This modern hotel stands on Banff Avenue, in the heart of downtown, surrounded by mountain scenery. The property has a restaurant, serving wood-fired fare and rustic dishes, a bar and a gift shop. There is also a Jacuzzi and dry sauna, as well as café. Guestrooms are bright and airy, and encompass telephones, TV, and tea/ coffee-making facilities. Most guestrooms also have minifridges.
Whistler's Inn, Jasper (nights 4-5)
Located on the main street and opposite the Jasper train station, this charming hotel, full of character has a striking stone façade. There is a sophisticated Italian restaurant and a relaxed eatery, serving classic Canadian dishes, as well as a bar with live music. On the roof, there are two hot tubs and a steam room, and there is also an on-site gift shop. Cosy guestrooms have TVs, minifridges and tea/coffee-making facilities.
Sun Peaks Lodge, Sun Peaks (night 6)
This charming mountain inn is situated in the heart of the Sun Peaks resort, close to a variety of restaurants and bars. The hotel offers casual dining at its steakhouse, and features a seasonal hot tub, sauna and steam room. Guestrooms are well-appointed and include TVs, safes, telephones, tea/coffee-making facilities, irons and ironing-boards and hairdryers.
Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, Vancouver (nights 7-8)
Set in two modern towers on bustling Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver, this polished hotel offers the perfect base from which to explore the city’s major attractions. There is a stylish restaurant, serving authentic West-Coast Canadian dishes, and a two-story bar and lounge area, as well as a fitness centre with an indoor swimming pool. Sleek guestrooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows, and include safes and TVs.
MS Koningsdam or MS Zaandam (nights 9-15)
Boasting spacious, wraparound teak decks, a wide variety of dining options and first-class live entertainment, the sleek ships of the Holland America Line promise a memorable taste of ‘life on the ocean waves’. Guests have full-board access to a range of restaurants, serving Asian, European and American cuisines, as well a number of elegant bars, perfect for a cocktail or two at sunset. The sundeck is expansive, featuring sun loungers, a swimming pool and panoramic lookout points, and hosts regularly outdoor cinema showings. There is a spa, and live music is offered daily. Two-berth interior guest cabins are comfortable and well-appointed, featuring TVs, safes and 24-hour room service. Alternatively, if you are looking for views of the Alaskan scenery, you can upgrade your cruise to an Ocean View or Verandah Stateroom or perhaps a Suite.
Please note: tours departing from the UK on a Friday will sail aboard MS Koningsdam, while those departing on a Tuesday will sail aboard MS Zaandam.
