Chobe Safari Lodge, Kasane (nights 2-4)  

Positioned on the banks of the Chobe River and just a 10-minute drive from the wildlife-rich Chobe National Park, this thatched resort dates back to 1959 and promises an authentic safari getaway with a beautiful backdrop. The property is built around a palm-thatched open-air restaurant with a shaded terrace that looks out over the river. Guests can enjoy sundowners and post-dinner drinks at one of the two bars. The Palm River Hotel, Victoria Falls (nights 5-7) 

This elegant hotel, based on the banks of the wildlife-rich Zambezi River, is only a short walk from Victoria Falls’ bustling centre and promises a sophisticated escape in the heart of Zimbabwe’s memorable natural spaces. Sable Valley Lodge, Hwange (nights 8-10)  

Based in a private concession on the edge of the lively Hwange National Park, near the populous Dete Vlei area, the lodge pairs modern comforts with unparalleled intimacy with Zimbabwe’s natural world. The property offers an underground hide and treehouse platform, looking out across the nearby watering holes, as well as an outdoor swimming pool. Guestrooms are set in a series of 11 traditional thatched ‘rondavels’ (round houses) and include mosquito nets and private terraces.  

Amalinda Lodge, Matopos (night 11-12) 

A granite oasis in the heart of the Matopos Hills, this luxury safari lodge has been built into an original Bushman shelter and places guests within arms’ reach of the region’s incredible painted caves.
